Nothing much, but:

Lazy Sunday

Yeah it was a Lazy Sunday and I woke up in the late afternoon. Hahaha yeah I did like usual. Then at around 5-6pm (which was a few hours after I woke up – you do the math) went to Jusco for some shopping. Played some pool, and bumped into Sheila, Azfar’s cousin. Meh…that was all.

A Surprise Meet

After Jusco, went to the RK Siang Malam joint and hooked up with mah fave DVD joint and bought some DVDs (a buy 5 free 1 promotion!). Now I would like to ignore the former comment and focus on the latter one, but meh…who am I kidding? Yeah fine I’m huge. At least I’m happy so what if I’m huge huh? Hahaha!

Watch Till You Puke

Began watching the first DVD out of the 6 bunch: Exorcism of Emily Rose. This movie may star the dynamic duo, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn but didn’t quite get that nut job movie I was expecting. Instead, it turned out to be an okay rom-com with a lil’ bit of nutjobs, a lil’ bit of T&A, a lil’ bit of heart warming scenes, a WHOLE LOTTA CUTESY (thank God for Rachel McAdams…she’s such a cutie!) and what Wilson-Vaughn comedy would be complete without a lil’ bit of a mystery character by the name of Chaz. Anyhoo, I would like to update this bloody rusty blog with a movie review. What movie you ask? Hrm…how about:

KING KONG!

Yeah folks, it IS the latest movie anyway and I just saw it yesterday with my family and here ya go – my review. Enjoy.

So a few days back I prepped myself before watching Peter Jackson’s version of Kong by getting a hold on the 1933 original of Kong starring Fay Wray. Yes, this version is the one we all were grown to love, and its story was one of the most original and of course the one that most probably nobody could duplicate in decades (or so I think). This is when the people in 1933 watched in horror as a giant sized gorilla took a tiny little blonde woman as captive, wondering wildly what the heck would that giant gorilla do to her (dudes, I don’t think there were that many perverts back in the day so lay off with that thought aight. You know what thought…please).

Although the Kong effects are laughable by today’s standards (d’uh the movie was in 1933 for God’s sake…still, it had great effects considering the time period), the whole story still delivers that simple yet effective ‘love story’ between a monkey and a woman (again, keep your thoughts to yourself pervs). A story telling us that 25 foot gorillas have feelings too, in fact all living things do.

Fast forward 72 years later, this New Zealander known for Hobbits, Elves and the Ring is already out with his version of King Kong. Yeap, Peter Jackson does it again with King Kong. Now, first things first – this King Kong is not a remake for sure. It’s Peter Jackson’s version of it, and I’ll stress out why later on.

Starring the lovely Naomi Watts, the talented Adrien Brody and of course the mega rock star Jack Black, King Kong sets to rock your Kong socks off your Kong feet.

First and foremost – King Kong is 3 hours long. Yes. 3 hours long. Hey, but don’t let the length of the movie scare you. Seriously, you won’t be feeling the 3 hours in the end, but for preparation get a good sleep before watching the show cos’ you won’t wanna be snoozing off in the middle of the show.

King Kong starts off by giving us a good view of how America looks like in the 30s, with homeless people everywhere, the rich and the poor separated so widely and so on. I suck in history but isn’t this during the Great Depression era? Yeah you smart asses can kick my ass and sue me for being a dumbass. Anyway, it then tells us about the two main characters and that they were both down on their lucks with their dreams – showbiz. We got Ann Darrow (Watts) with her luck in theater and we got Carl Denham (Black), a director struggling with his flopping movies. The whole story shifts into gear when Denham and Darrow meet each other. Starting from this point, the main theme of the movie is ‘fate’.

Pete Jackson (PJ) really managed to inject this ‘theme’ by just using the haunting musical score, plus the perfect facial expressions of Watts and Black. Dude, you’ll know that all of this was fate. They’ll tell you that in your face…and it keeps on getting better till the end.

This is what I would like to highlight about PJ’s sheer brilliance in directing an epic such as King Kong. He injects emotion, feelings, and life into the characters in King Kong. He makes you wanna care about the side characters as much as you would about the main characters. The movie crew, the ship crew and heck you’ll even feel for the ship’s chef (played by Andy Serkis).

This is what I adore the most about PJ. He is a genius. That’s why I mentioned that King Kong is PJ’s version and not a remake. The original King Kong storyline was just the guideline for this King Kong and many, many extra injections of life and emotion were given by PJ. If you liked the LOTR trilogy, you can expect the same experience of the sadness, the happiness and the fear in King Kong. You thought the 1933 King Kong’s ending was tragic? Wait till you see PJ’s King Kong. 72 years of advancement in the special effects department really pays off in this flick.

I really can’t say much more in writing as you really have to watch the movie to get what I’m talking about…but I will continue to write about the damn sweet special effects and the whole environment in King Kong. The environment is like a drawing coming to life, especially Skull Island. The creatures however range from normal to superb. The dinosaurs are superb – the Rexes and the Brontosauruses really look cool and bring back that Jurassic Park feeling. The other inhabitants however, look normal (to me at least). When I say normal, I don’t really mean ugly…I just mean that it looks too CG to me. The truth is that it’s actually a mixed bag cos’ sometimes the centipedes look realistic enough, sometimes they don’t – same goes for the bats, the crabs and others.

Kong however is perfect. Kong walks like Kong should. Kong roars like a King of the Jungle should. Kong talks like a gorilla should…which basically means he doesn’t technically talk but he does that monkey talk of his…well…that is considered as talking right? Kong really shows us that he too, has a soft side in that beastly hide of his. He’s tough, he’s scary, he’s scarred but he’s actually too proud to admit that he too likes humor, likes the presence of someone who loves him and loves the fact that he has someone to save and that someone depends on him. Hmm…sounds like us men huh? Hehe. Thanks to awesome motion capturing (by the brilliant Andy Serkis) and awesome CG work by WETA workshop, Kong really is Kong.

Bottom line is - the story really works up on the human psychology. It manages to make you relax with soft, slow scenes and then makes you jump out of your seat with excitement with awesome giant battles, slick escapes and near-death encounters and then it pulls you back on a relaxing trip down soft, slow lanes again. I don’t know about others, but it sure worked for me!

This story really is multi-layered as it really has a lot of messages buried deep beneath the surface of the ‘beauty and the beast’ story – not unlike Kong himself with reasons as stated in the previous paragraph. This movie makes you ask a lot of questions in the end. Who the real beast is in the end; Kong or humans? Should you judge a book by its cover? Why humans think more of themselves and not others? Why is Adrien Brody’s nose that big? Okay maybe not that question but it is a mystery on its own*.

My recommendation: Call up the nearest cinema. Book your tickets. Get a good rest and some sleep. Watch the movie. Be amazed. Yes, I too have been sucked into the world of 'Dark Arts', symbology and cryptology. Thanks to a few frens (Dueng, Ayuni, and some others) I have been introduced to this book, this story which is so engaging, that a guy who rarely reads novels like myself just becomes addicted to the story.

The way Dan Brown tells the story is so engaging and it has your Hollywood style thriller all written in text. Each action is described in superbly crafted sentences and broken down into chapters just at the right points. Therefore, it's a no brainer that sooner or later there'll be a movie made based on this book.

Fans may know this before hand, cos the news is quite old but what i want to share with ya peeps about this movie is the cast that have been confirmed as of now.

So far, what we know is that Da Vinci's Code will be directed by acclaimed director, Ron Howard (Splash, Appollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man) and it's due May 19th of next year. Now on to the casting. So far these are the people confirmed:

Paul Bettany as Silas

Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon (pic from the set of Da Vinci's Code)

Jean Reno as Captain Bezu Fache a.k.a Papal Bull

Alfred Molina as Bishop Manuel Aringarosa

Audrey Tautou as Sophie Neveau

Sir Ian McKellen as Sir Leigh Teabing

So that's it for now. The cast looks good especially the legendary Tom Hanks as Langdon and Jean Reno as Bezu Fache. Since I just started reading the book, I could now visualize these people while reading it. Superb! And possibly this could be another reason to read the book all over again, for those who have finished it.

Till later, cheers!

-peace!-

This is MONKEY BUSINESS!!

Okay so this is a first: An album review by moi. I usually review movies cos that's my thang...and I don't review music that much cos I get lost in words like crunk, funk, or hell...PHUNK! :)

But for today's post, I can't resist doing a review for Black Eyed Peas' latest album, Monkey Business. Besides the Free Monkey Mask offer that comes with the album, the whole album is so feel good and it's essential listening for those who feel somewhat tense or just feeling down and want to cheer up.

From the opening theme, Pulp Fiction fans would smile becaue the first track would be the very very upbeat remix of 'Miserlou' originally by Dick Dale, and resulting in 'Pump It Up'. Man this song REALLY pumps things up! As usual the BEP crew showcases their different styles of music, fused into a song. Like i said..i don't know how to differentiate a song with music terms...so I'll just say that the first song was already a good sign for the others. And I love being correct.

The next song would be the current chart topper, 'Don't Phunk With My Heart'. Seriously, the first time I heard this song..I disliked it. I dunno why...maybe it's because Fergie's style of saying 'No No No No'? That was only for the first time..now I'm addicted to it! The video clip also highlights Fergie's 'other' technique which involves body parts piercing through cloth...if ya catch my drift. HOHO!

All in all, all the songs in this album is a must listen. It goes from upbeat and sizzles down to a boil in the middle and then catches up again towards the end. The songs are so diversed that each song basically has a different sound to it. There's a lot of snippets of reference of classic songs embedded in their songs like James Brown's 'Watch me!' or Beastie Boys' 'DRRROP'. Genius.

There are 5 songs which have collabos:

My Style with Justin Timberlake
Like That with Cee-Lo, John Legend, Talib Kweli and Q-Tip
Gone Going with Jack Johnson (who sounds like John Mayer)
They Don't Want Music with the legendary James Brown (this song's kinda like showing Mr. Brown's disappointment with kids' taste in music today. They don't want music. They just want Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom..)
Union with Sting

There's also a fully Tagalog song by Apl titled 'Bebot'.

All is nice and fun and cheery. A recommended album for those fun loving people or sad people. I give this album a 9/10.

War of The Worlds: The Review

Aloooohaaaa!Wow..long time no blog..ahaha..malas la nak blog..since dah abes presentation...hoho..keje pun malas. Well..to show how lazy i am at work..i'm gonna write my review for War of The Worlds. For those who wanna skip the intro of pre-viewing feelings stuff and shit can skip to the 5th paragraph. :)

Went and watched this last Friday at 5PM with family. Y'see, there are normally 3 types of pre-viewing feelings that you'll have and normally it could very well determine the result of your reviews or opinions on a movie. The first type of feeling is the "Uphill to Midhill/Downhill" experience. This is when you feel so damn hyped about a movie a YEAR before it actually comes out. After viewing it however, you get mixed emotions. You would want to say it was a bad movie, or just an 'OK' movie but sometimes you feel like a fool for having all those pre-hype moments. So instead you cheat yourself and try to look in the mirror and tell yourself that the movie was excellent.

Case in hand, Star Wars Episode 3. Yes i DID gave a 9/10 for this movie because I was sooooo hyped about this movie. It IS still a great movie though, but hey after a few more viewings..i just didn't feel..all giggly and sad when watching the "You were like a brother to me Anakin" moment. It was just like all the molecules in your body shaking and vibrating and when the time comes..BOOM! and then followed by a poof. That's all.

Now the second feeling is totally the opposite. You go in without ANY expectations, with much scepticism, or maybe a last minute urge to watch the movie, but after the viewing, you think that it's the BOMB!! Case in hand, Batman Begins (review coming soon). I really had nothing to expect. Didn't go picture hunting for the movie, didn't go rumor hunting as well. And yet, I end up as a big fan of the movie, evident at the lowyat.net forums.

Now the third feeling is a 'so-so till the end' feeling. You get in with a medium expectation, where you're curious of how the movie will turn out and you tell yourself that the movie "cam best jerr". Yet the result would be still a medium to high level of raving. Case in hand, War of The Worlds. Here's the review:

First thing you should know when entering the cinema: This is a Spielberg movie. Second thing you should know: It stars Tom Cruise. The third fact is: It's a sci-fi movie with a lot of special effects.

These facts alone could spell out 'BLOCKBUSTER' and indeed it does. This is what an action-packed movie should be all about. An action packed movie with a lot of heart, mind you.

The story starts off with the alien invasion on earth via lightnings that blasts EMP, rendering all electronics useless. Then these alien tripods come out from the ground, starts to attack everybody, wanting to claim Earth for themselves. Tom Cruise is one of the many people who are trying to survive this disastrous event along with his daughter and son. Now the premise may be simple, but leave it to Mr. Spielberg to tell a story as simple as this and make it into something so real, that you could imagine it happening to us.

I don't know how to review this in depth cos there aren't many plot twists or whatsoever. It's just plain simple. Aliens attack, humans try to survive and protect their planet. The thing about this movie is that it basically excels at every single scene where it shows the aliens kicking ass (or disintergrating them). This is truly my first time experiencing an alien attack scene where i was literally breathless for a moment. I mean seriously breathless. It was sheer genius.

Other than the attacking aliens, Tom Cruise did a very good job as usual as Ray Ferrier, the father to Dakota Fanning's Rachel and Justin Chatwin's Robbie. Now he's just your ordinary useless father which deserves the divorce from his ex wife. He's irresponsible, his son even calls him by his name. But this isn't for long. As in all Spielberg movies, they have a message. In this one, it's about parenthood and the importance of a family at a time like war or some hectic tragedy. Tom Cruise superbly carried out his role with realism. He's not the typical Hollywood character in any disaster films where at one moment you find out that he's a plumber. The next second he's Earth's hero cos he now knows how to fly planes, drive tanks and shoot missiles. Nope, Tom Cruise isn't like this in this movie. He's a scared as you and me, he's worried about the safety of his children, he's also battling the war with his children at the same time. He hides when there are explosions, he gets stunned and somtimes act like a pussy. He's just REAL. So kudos to Mr. Cruise! Fanning was cute as usual, doing a lot of screaming, acting frightened but never overacting. You basically could FEEL her fear. Bravo indeed.

Now the ending may not be the BEST ending ever in this kind of movie, so people expecting so, please be warned. People who have read the book should know how it ends, so maybe they would be going to watch this movie to see the effects. I myself was kinda disappointed with the ending cos it was so...anti-climatic. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense. Maybe H.G Wells was trying to make fun of the aliens. "So you think you're so smart do ya?", he probably thought.

All in all, this movie is an action-packed one filled with heart, a strong message and such. People expecting balls-to-the-wall actions, please wait for this movie on DVD. At least you could appreciate the sound in this movie. On the other hand, people who want to see aliens attacking with no remorse, see this movie and I bet you'll hate aliens more than you have before (if you ever).

I give this movie an 8/10.

-peace!-

The true King of the Jungle

Here it is folks...the trailer for another anticipated movie by Pete Jackson...coming to you this December 14th...get ready...for The King:

LARGE VERSION (QUICKTIME)

Ares!! I have come to slaughter youuu!

Wow..long time no blog..heh..been busy last week..and really sleepy during the weekends. Man. Only 3 more weeks to the end of practical training..can't wait! But then...there's FYP...oh man...couldn't we just rest for a whole year?

Anyway, the title refers to the awesome game God Of War on the PS2. I bought it way back in December/January and only yesterday I managed to finish it! Man it was satisfying!! Yeahh! too bad i bought the second printing copy..so I couldn't view the extra movies..sheesh..but there's always the God Mode where it's a pain in the ass..completing normal mode is already tough enough..now God Mode??

The only reason I finished the game late was because the previous copy i had..i thought it was an incomplete version. So by that time it was already after the 5 days return period..so i just kept it in store. Then i thought a new batch came in, so i went to buy it, and to my despair..it was the same...the game froze at one point while loading the level...same point..same thing. So i was really furious..wanted to return it already..but then i realised that the freezing was caused by my PS2 itself. sheesh...the game was trying to load the bg music and it got stuck there. So i decided to reload the game, this time...i switched the music off..and HEY it worked!! so from there onwards...just kept slaying enemies and walked like a Roman God...Kratos..you kick ASS!! I'm definitely gonna play the game again with God Mode..heh see how advanced a gamer i am. :D

P.S: I also learned something valuable on buying newly released games, but only for the PC. It is best to download the game demos from Gamespot or anywhere else before buying the game. D'uh. Just downloaded Batllefield 2 that day, and damn the demo allows online play!! cool! Now playing it for more than 20 times..i'm definitely gonna buy the original copy of BF2!! Next up in my demo list: Psychonauts!

Seeya later!

-peace!-

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shahsengal.blogspot.com/2005/06/ares-i-have-come-to-slaughter-youuu.html' title='Ares!! Well i WAS supposed to blog about my recent trip to Kota Bahru and Johor Bahru..but I wasn't in a mood lately. Felt so bored and just can't blog. Anyway, I wanted to edit the photos to be put up about the trip, so I didn't had the time for that either.

Anyhoo, since I'm quite in a mood for some blogging now..I think I'll share my experience with you people..a scary experience actually.

It all happened in JB when I was out with my family, shopping at a local hypermarket store. We all wanted to buy some steaks, fries, and other western goodies to cook in the hotel we were staying (the room so bloody NICE, with dapur, fridge and microwave. More in upcoming blog). After paying up, I told my dad I wanted to go to the magazine store..just wanted to check out la..buy something maybe. My family then proceeded to go outside of the store and go ahead to the car.

After 5 minutes or so, I found nothing of interest in the mag store and decided to check out the rack outside the store. This is where it all began...

Out of nowhere I heard a big *PANG* like a fire cracker or something. Everybody around me was equally shocked and turned to the noise. At that moment I seriously thought a balloon popped cos' near the cash registers was a clown giving some balloons. But no. The clown himself was equally shocked. Suddenly...everybody started running towards my direction. A few of them screamed something that I never thought I would hear in front of my face. "Perompak!".

At that exact moment, I was in a state of confusion cos LITERALLY I thought it was all a prank and a dream..and at that exact moment, I realised it wasn't a balloon. It was a gunshot. Now more and more people were running towards me (I was near the other entrance/exit). Immediately, I got scared. Not because of my safety, but for my family. What if they were in the car, didn't hear the commotion, the gunshots? I ran outside the store and looked for them. Nowhere to be found. Only Allah knows how fast my blood rushed to my head at that moment, negative thinking pouring into my mind. I then ran out to the car park, wanting to go to our car. I tried to call my dad...no answer. Hands shaking, I called my sis, and fortunately, she answered. When she picked up the phone, I could hear screaming in the background. I asked her where she was. She was in the toilet. What about my mom?? Alhamdulillah, she was with my sis in there too. I told her to stay in there. Her voice was shivering with fear when she whispered on the phone, "Bang, ader rompakan kat luar tu!". I told her I knew and asked her to stay with my mom.

Then I called my bro. He answered and I asked the same question. He, too, was in the toilet with my dad. Feeling ever so grateful, I then noticed that I was still at the car park. Then I heard it again. "PANG!" "PANG!" "PANG!". This time it suddenly sounded closer. I saw a group of people running with fear out of the other exit. The robbers were trying to escape and they actually fired warning shots to ask people to give them way. They were now outside the store...and I was in the car park.

I turned around and saw a group of people hiding on the other end of the building. People still screaming and running away from what seemed to be a car driving towards my direction, I fled towards the hiding place. Fortunately, the car wasn't the getaway car, but the robbers were still outside. I heard another 3 or more shots being fired.

After a few more minutes, everything suddenly became quiet. No more gunshots. A few left screaming. Some crying in fear and shock. It was over. I called my sis and told her it's ok to come out, after I confirmed with a security guard about that. Then my dad called using my bro's hp and said that they were in the car already. I passed by in front of the crime scene and everything was a mess.

Aftershock

What I realized then was that the crime scene, where the shots were fired was just about 5-6 stores away from the magazine store where I was. The exit the robbers took was near the toilets. I felt pity for my family cos they were getting scared by the seconds when the gunshot sounds came closer and closer to them. At first I thought, well, lucky nobody got hurt..cos I didn't see no blood on the floor. I was wrong.

One did got hurt. According to the papers the next day, a security guard was shot in the leg (that must be the first shot heard in the store). Then a guard's shotgun was relieved. After knowing all these facts, I thanked Allah almighty that nothing happened to me and my family.

The funny thing about this experience is that I wasn't panicky or scared to the max. I was just worried and scared for my family's safety. Only after this tragedy, that I started to become a bit traumatized..until now actually. Cos, you never know when it's gonna happen. You never know. I just pray to Allah that He would protect me and my family from these tragedies. There is a reason why we experienced this. Personally, I know why.

So there ya go. A frightening experience.

Notes: Kinda funny cos it seems historical events just happen whenever I go to JB. The previous event/tragedy was in 2001 when I was in JB. When exactly? Oh..well...around September 11th. Yes. You got it. I was in the hotel room watching CNN when the first plane hit the towers. Tragic. So JB must be a tragic setter then. Sheesh..

Funny websites of the day

Credits to the sick spammer, Amen for his idea!!

[these sites will only be funny among my friends...]

www.ejal.com

www.cheeps.com

www.comaamerica.com

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280653/

www.sapi.com

http://www.yasminmyanmar.com/bean.htm You know the feeling when everyday was a fun and exciting day, where you would play all day, have fun with the neighbor (uhm..) and just worry about having fun in kindie? Yeah..I treasure those feelings. Thank Allah cos I had the chance to cos if I didn't..i'd be spoiled right now. Troublesome childhood and whatnot.

I'm thankful and really grateful to Allah because I was blessed with an average family where I could experience all the toys and stuff that I wanted as a child.

So I just wanted to reminisce on my childhood days...just to share the nostalgia with you.

About 16-18 years ago, I was this kid who was living in Seremban. Well nothing much to talk about there cos I stayed there for..like what...2 years? When I shifted to Subang, now THAT's where the awesomeness began. I remembered my first home in Subang. It was SS 15/4F. I couldn't remember much about the interior..but what happened in that home really stuck with me. I mean the childhood memories.
These were the days where I would just play in front of the house with my neighbors..play play play. Then I came to a point where I had to do kindie. Man was I pissed off when my dad asked me to start kindie. I throwed tantrums and fits, just because I was scared to enter kindie. But all that was worthless cause the first day I entered kindie (Tadika Tinkle Bell or something like that), man I had loads of friends. I loved the tea time breaks, where they served small cups of hot teh-o and those small biscuits with the flowery icing on top. I loved the lessons, where we jumped from ABCs to numbers to playtime. Heck I even remember that I had a crush! HAHA a kindie crush!

A few months later I shifted to SS 18/2C. Now here's a house where I had quite a number of memories. At this point of age, I developed a phobia. Lightning. Man i would scream and get scared when I heard thunder. I would cower and hide like the thunder was a big bad man trying to get me. I even went to an extent of calling my dad at work to ask him to come home whenever there was thunder! Go figure. What a laugh!
I also remembered my neighbor, this girl called Puteri Lily (bukan Laili ha..). She was THE youngest b*tch I ever knew. LOL! Man she was soooo stuck up..she thought she had everything in the world.
I also remember at this time, I had a bad cut to my ear. Why? Cause being the cheeky and stubborn kid i was I played with water and sprayed everywhere on the porch, and I slipped and fell head first on a plant pot! *Rrrip!* goes my ear. Well not literally ripped off, but just a bad bad cut.
This was also the time where I became an MC for my kindie final concert. Yep. A full time MC/host. When I was 6-7 years old. How bout that? Not only did I became host, I also was picked to do the Lambada in one of a concert segment. Whoo! It all took place at The Holiday Inn, Subang.

During my stay in Subang, my favorite hangout place would be none other than Toys R' Us in Subang Parade. Everytime my parents say "Let's go to SP" I'd be jumping with joy and going "Can we go to Toys R' Us ma?" over and over again. When I reached SP, I clearly remember the view of that big automatic door opening and it was like heaven inside! Rows and rows of toys, from Barbies to Transformers, from Hot Wheels to Police Academy figures..it was a blast! The toys I bought most: Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, and the aforementioned Police Academy figurines. Hahahaha! I remember this old-school learning computer called Talking Lesson One. Played with it for months until it eventually broke. hehe. Joy. Pure joy. I loved every catalog that I brought home from Toys R' Us...every page displaying the awesome toys..and I was imagining myself with the toys..oh sweet memories.

Well...this is just kindie era man..nothing fantastic happened after that, well, besides the cool primary school era and the awesome gaming era (from Atari to Micro Genius to PS2 baby!).

Don't you love your childhood? I know I do. And I would love to go back in time to relive those moments.

-Peace!-

Web in the Spotlight #1

I think from now on I should just list down sites that I find useful or funny here. A direct copy of how old Ben Kenobi said it when he heard R2-D2's beeping when trying to heal Luke after the sand people attack in Episode IV.

Anakin said "This is where the fun begins" at the start of the movie, the space battle. Han Solo said these exact words in Episode IV when the Millenium Falcon was being pulled in by the Death Star's tractor beam (i think).

In the Clone Wars cartoon series, Volume II a number of quotes were taken directly from the original trilogy. Examples:
Anakin saying "Impressive....most impressive" to C-3PO in the alley when 3PO showed his new gold plated body.
Obi-Wan said "There are alternatives to fighting", just like he told Han Solo in the Millenium Falcon when it was being pulled by the Death Star's tractor beam in Episode IV.

Maybe already generally known, the line "I have a bad feeling about this.." will be said in every Star Wars movie and even in the cartoons (and maybe the comics too).

Padmé told Anakin, "Hold me". I think her daughter might have felt something very homely to that line, cause Leia said those words exactly in Return of The Jedi to Han Solo just after Luke told her about being siblings.

Besides the "I have a bad feeling" line, there is also a certain popular sound effect called "The Wilhelm Scream". This scream is used in every Star Wars title (games, cartoons, movies). Google this scream to learn more about it.
In Episode III, this scream was used during the space battle, after Anakin and Obi-Wan rescued the Chancellor. There was a scene where it showed turrets firing at a ship and it blowed up, catapulting a Clone Trooper in progress. This is when the scream is heard. *It also shows up in a lot of movies (LOTR, Agent Cody Banks, etc.)

The Forest Trooper's design in Return of The Jedi is seen during the Battle of Kashyykk.

During the final Death Star scene in Episode III, we see Vader walking towards the famous windows where he used to look at the Death Star. In the pit below, the Imperial forces have their old school costumes on. Also, you're wondering who is the third guy standing beside Darth Sidious with Vader looking on the construction of the Death Star? That's a very young Grand Moff Tarkin, the designer of the Death Star. He died in the Death Star's destruction in Episode IV.

Palpatine mentioned about Darth Plagueius (who I personally think is his mentor) and the ability to create lifeforms by altering the amount of Midichlorians in the blood. Does that mean, Darth Sidious created Anakin? Remember that Anakin was born to a virgin mother, and Qui-Gon established that Anakin had a very high amount of Midichlorians in his blood, even higher than Master Yoda's...So wouldn't the final battle in Return of The Jedi make it a Grandfather-Father-Son battle? Hahaha..impressive....most impressive.

It was rumored that a 10-year old Han Solo would appear in Episode III but it never made it (the scene).

The blue Twi'lek Jedi you see in AOTC and ROTS is Aayla Secura and has her own story told in the Star Wars Expanded Universe comics.

Del Rey's collection of novels have a lot of backstory to the characters, including Mace Windu's, and General Grievous'.

There are more, and I'll update this entry when i've picked up more.

-Peace!-

Star Wars Episode III: Review of This Movie

Finally, I could do a review on this piece of crap....HAHA just kidding bout the crap part! Well, I got my first screening on last Saturday but thanks to the ignorant and idiotic people of seremban with their driving skills, I reached the cinema about 15 minutes late. I actually missed the whole Battle of Coruscant!! I entered the cinema only to hear "This time we should fight together" and to see Count Dooku in all his glory...darn it! So since I entered that viewing with the rage of a dark jedi (again credits to idiot drivers of Seremban) I couldn't say I enjoyed the film as a whole. I DID start to enjoy the show towards the end..but I felt a disturbance in The Force. Something that just wasn't right. I haven't felt this presence since...

Haha..anyway, i got my second viewing yesterday with my family and I was urging them not to get there late cos I wouldn't want to miss the whole battle scene. And as fate would have wrote it..I entered early! Yaay! So here's my review:

"Hmm, bring it on, you must. Biatch"

Now, I couldn't hold myself still when I was looking at the screen, the lights dimmed...and the Lucasfilm logo was sparkling...and then..."Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away..."

BOOM! I almost jumped in joy when that famous Star Wars tune came on. Watching the intro roll up...WAR! Oh my god..this is it. It's the last part of the prequel trilogy. The circle is now complete. YEAHOO!! Then when a couple of starfighters were zipping through other huge fighters...with a bird's eye view of the action below (uhm..not sure if it's a bird's eye view cause in space..there's no direction) man this scene was awesome!! It truly showcased ILM's great 'unnatural' power of CGI. The whole intro was also a preview of how Anakin's bond with his master, Obi-Wan has grown stronger after the events of Episode II and the Clone Wars. Anakin was stubborn as ever, but he did what he did to protect his beloved master. That was enough to set up the tragic events that follow.

"Master Yoda, I feel a great De Ja Vu in The Force.."

Now I'm not gonna give you the whole story though, cos I don't wanna ruin it for those who have not watched the movie. So overall, I say that this movie was a good, if not great, ending to complete the whole saga. The events in this movie really explain what that old hermit who lives out in the Dune Sea was talking about (in case you didn't know, I was talking bout Obi-Wan in Episode IV). Seriously, Lucas did a good job in linking the prequel trilogy (PT) with the original trilogy (OT). Well, he should have, or else, he would've been labelled as a big bastard with money in his pockets.

Like all Star Wars movies, this one has its flaws too, but personally I wouldn't mind these flaws because the mainpoints highlighted in this movie were more than enough to cover them. I think the whole 'love story' between Anakin and Padmé WAS neccessary, only that Lucas didn't give much power to them in this one. It's just the basic "I'll protect you, don't you worry my love." thing. However, it was just enough to make us feel Anakin's confusion and desperation when choosing the path of his life.

"Yea the idea of YOU becoming Darth Vader IS kinda funny!"

Ian McDiarmid was SUPERB in his role as the old devil Chancellor Palpatine (known as Pappy among his friends) who is actually the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. Every single line he uttered was tone perfect. He was just OOZING with evil not only to his snake eyes and glare, but the way he says things to Anakin. The way he seduces Anakin to the Dark Side. C'mon, who wouldn't get closer to someone if they called you 'son'? Especially in Anakin's situation where the Jedi ways are far too slow and not giving him the spotlight he wants? Yep, Ian McDiarmid could be Satan himself in this one...

Ewan McGregor was also superb in his role as Obi-Wan and the way he brings his character refelcts the old Ben Kenobi we loved in Epsiode IV. He is now wiser, more matured than Ep I and II. He even managed to convince me that eventhough he seems like he's ignoring Anakin, he still loves him like his own flesh and blood. All his actions and words really reflect the way of a mentor. Superb!

Hayden Christensen DID play the part of Anakin a bit better than Ep II, because he is now obviously matured and he has more rage in him this time. It seemed like he was just holding back his anger in Ep II and he let it all out in the last hour of Ep III. He managed to show his confusion, desperation and his fear of losing a loved one. His hatred was just...I dunno...full of hate? (hahaha)

"Holy...Those mushrooms on Dantooine were something alright.."

Other parts were just okay to me, Natalie's part being the worst I guess. I mean, she doesn't manage to show us that she REALLY loves Anakin (except a few parts towards the end of the film). Jimmy Smits was okay, considering the amount of screen time given to him as Senator Bail Organa. Sam Jackson was kinda cheesy as Mace Windu, cos he just had too much of a BMF in him to be a Master Jedi. I even thought he was gonna read a chapter from the Bible before attempting to kill a certain Sith Lord (ref: Pulp Fiction).

The thing I loved most about this flick is that how we get to see the events in Episode IV build up. From the short appearance of Wookies, including this walking carpet that we all loved from Ep IV to VI, to the sights of Yoda, Obi-Wan and Senator Organa walking through this hall that was on tha Tantive IV. Yea, you gotta be an OT fan to know what I'm talking about. I LOVED the end part...man the sight was awesome..i think I cried. There was no dialogue, just Sir John Williams' masterpiece playing in the background. Man...nostalgia to the max!!

"Not sleeping for a month WASN'T part of the Sith deal man!"

The action in Ep III is also superb, mainly because of the lightsaber battles. We had five, I think? Man..and of course...the long awaited duel...oops my bad...i meant The Duel, capital T, capital D. Yea..Obi-Wan and Anakin. Damn..This was the highlight of Hayden's acting. I could feel his anger, giving him more power..heheh. Yoda vs. Sidious was cool too, way cooler than Yoda Vs. Dooku in Ep II. Grievous Vs. Obi-Wan was kinda cool, although it just lacked some oomph. The whole Battle of Coruscant, Battle of Kashyykk, and dude..even Order 66 was mean. The song just gave this sad feeling of the whole Empire rising..kinda like a big F U from Sidious.

"A Jedi shall not know bathtime. Nor combing. Nor grooming."

Well, I seriously don't know how to review this thang in depth..you just gotta see it man..my mom who wasn't a big fan of the Star Wars saga, felt sad and sorry for Anakin...imagine that!! Okay so my rating? I'd give it a 9/10.

Episode I - 7/10
Episode II - 8/10
Episode III - 9/10
Episode IV - 9/10
Episode V - 10/10
Episode VI - 8/10

There..the circle is now complete. May the Force be with us all.

"ROORRRRRRHHHHHHHH"
Translation: Wookies F'N rule!!
